I don't know if it's been pointed out before, but the lack of white dog-poo has to do with the fact that dogs aren't fed on straight-up raw meat any more, apparently.

Also apparently, when dogs are fed on raw meat, the poo doesn't smell anywhere near as terrible, and dries quickly to a fairly innocuous, crumbly dust.

The horror of modern dog-poo is (again apparently) the making of the Industrial Dogfood Complex.

My use of 'apparently' wasn't in any sense ironic - that post was based on a half-remembered Radio 4 program from years ago.

Having now spent at least 6 minutes engaged in more serious research, it would appear that the key element lacking in the modern dog's diet (white-poo-wise) is bones!

This makes sense (to me) since one rarely sees a dog gnawing on a bone these days. It would seem that ye olde dog food from the olde days of olde also contained (more) bone.
