ok, well see... now there you have a very valid point and i'm going to have to sit back for a moment, take a sip of my coke, stare at the wall, smoke a cigarette and ponder. starting....... now.
ok, done. so, for one thing this isn't a novel, although you'd hardly get that from how long my fucking posts are sometimes. i believe one is warranted the same liberties as a published autho, but at least if your dogshit of a life is exploited in print for the sake of humor and interest, it's been immortalized by a valid upc (and perhaps a forgiving lawsuit!).
here, i think it's just sort of a shame. like, that dude bums me out now. all those dudes and ladies bum me out right now. and so i'm just saying, on behalf of my not wanting to be bummed out by someone else's personal bummedness, let's keep that sort of stuff canned unless it's your own personal problem and for some reason airing it out semi-anonymously has a therepeudic value.
i think there's plenty enough comedic value in the date interactions alone (like honestly, i laughed at that shaggy shit) and from his general, non-personal descriptions alone, you can sort of GATHER the kind of baggage dude is carrying. normal dudes don't make shaggy impersonations and talk about doing happy dances. i've met that guy. he hopes everyone will be his girlfriend. it just ain't right, and i almost prefer the backstory be a sordid mystery.
for the record, some of my least favorite revered authors include henry miller, bukowski, anais nin, burroughs etc who just seemed sort of exploitive. i mean, celine collette mingus dostoevsky vonnegut dadadadadadadada aren't necessarily less-so but, i think you tend to "get the point" more than have it handed to you with guys like that.
