I'm from LA. Pathetic I know.

I also remember Musicland (remember Licorice Pizza?) and Kix.

Really, I should be shot for these things.

I gotta say though that the 80's metallers in my home town were pretty funny. The one local band, actually the only one, started out as Dealer, then Nemesis, then Smash Passion, and thankfully finally Boneyard. When I was 19, I heard they were going to ask me to play leads, that is until I cut my hair. Thanks the gods that was never an option in my rock history.

Oh man. Memories flood back. Bad memories.

Is there any other kind with that band?

Are they still together in some form?

Wow!
I can't believe Kix is getting mentioned on here.
Next thing you know Child's Play is gonna get mentioned.
Or the sadly unrecognized Crack The Sky who were only huge in Baltimore despite being from Pittsburgh.

I think you should be proud you were around to experience such awful culture. The mall and franchise pizzerias are a step up from what the kids have today, like jugglaoism.

Yeah, I didn't really experience the metal culture too much, I was into punk, the two didn't really overlap too much.

Speaking of malls, there used to be this white guy with jheri curls who used to go to my local mall and break dance. His name was Wizard. I swear, that guy must have gotten laid all the time. He had the biggest entourage following him around all the time.

Wizard, the white popping wonder of the Puente Hills Mall. Ah, sweet memories.

In my town of 40,000, we had no choice with the overlap situation. They introduced us skater dorks to Ride the Lightning and black jean jackets.

Skater dorks? The metal guys were considered way more dorky around here!
Still are. They are also still wearing black tights and their black levi jackets with the arms cut off.
Saw some just yesterday hanging out in front of the Rite-Aid eating some ice cream.

What if your only other options were...

Cinderella- Still Climbing
Great White- Greatest Hits
WASP- Some piece of shit record that I can't remember the name of thankfully

Know what's even worse that in your own house? In fucking public, being played really loud in a boat and you have no where to hide. So fucked.

What is the gp thing?

Forgive me if I don't answer, but I'm not keen on imagining any hypothetical pejorative. That's loser shit. Ill skip the manacled fetish.... seems masochistic or marginalized...... gp = paltrow....there are worse lives.....

WASP! I still put this record on occasionally:

Freakishly bizarre band.

I would quite happily listen to this one all the way through if it was playing:
