I'm sorry to quote this again, but the chap on the radio just now was a season-ticket holder at Newcastle, who has refused to watch them play since the day Allardyce was appointed. His choice to take over now?

Jose Mourinho.

Yeah.

Good luck with that.

The real shame about this whole sorry incident is all the fucking fake-fans who booed the team nearly every home game have got exactly what they wanted.

There, I said it.

Well, "like" isn't the right word, but I enjoy listening to him shout his whiny mouth off, and I enjoy his commentary.

I distinctly remember his commentary from a Newcastle vs West Ham match when he spent about five minutes explaining why Manchester United are the only team anyone does or indeed should refer to as 'United'.

He's only marginally better than Clive "of course, it was 1-0 with seconds remaining that famous night in Barcelona..." Tyldsley.

Not to harp on this Chairman Hall, but it's your night... listening to 6.06 now (for my sins), the following exchange just took place:

'Now, we're going to a Villa fan in Birmingham, I understand you have a view on the Newcastle situation?'

[voice like F.Thorr]'Yeah, I just want to say, I think it's really funny!!'

~~~
The news is that Shearer has told sources close to him that he's "very unlikely" to be the next new manager. Said close sources have seemingly then immediately phone the media to pass on his private comments. Nice.
According to the bookies, all the money is going on Harry Redknapp.
Why would Harry leave Pompey?!
Dang, he's done a grand job there so far. I don't see why you'd want to get involved in Newcastle right now. Especially if you already have a job you are doing well at. That seems like a stupid bet. Especially considering all of Harry's ties are down south.
Remember how upset Redknapp was when he got arrested, because he reckoned it took him out of the reckoning for the England job?
I think Harry is looking for that one last big job. I think he's realised that he's eighty-three now (or whatever) and that while he's doing great things at Portsmouth, he isn't going to get them much further than qualifying for Europe every season and maybe a cup.
Newcastle will offer him untold transfer funds and a semi-realistic tilt at the title - especially as half of the irony of Allardyce's sacking is that Newcastle really aren't that bad a side.
I think Redknapp would love to be able to take on the likes of Ferguson and Wenger without being pegged as an underdog.
To go to Southampton?
As I recall, there was some pretty shady betting going on the last couple of times 'H' changed clubs, so if the word on the street is that he's going to Newcastle.....
I forgot to say, this would also clear the way for Mourinho to take over the reins at Pompey.
