Here, everyone have a little cancer!
Srsly, though: Drs are telling the Mrs that the chemo was effective. Outpatient surgery next week to sort out the chemo port and any dregs of the tumor. Her hair is starting to grow back. She feels a little better. It is, as she says, "Somewhat better than dying."
In the meantime, the dermatologist recommended I move to a less sunny climate. Like a cave, for example. I get two plugs taken out of my face in the next ten days. First was today. Right cheek is all stitched up and tight. Hurts.
Did the thing where they hack a little, check the edges, hack a little more, decide they got it, stitch it all up. Takes about an hour and a half between debridings. I was sat in a waiting room with a bunch of old people. We all had at least one bright and clean white surgical dressing on our faces. Some more than others. It looked like river-swim day at the old folks home, and we were attacked by a very low-achieving school of piranha.
Once they were confident they'd gotten it all, they had me come in and get all stitched back together. It felt like the doc was stitching up a pair of 14 eyelet Dr Martens while he was chatting breezily with me about fly fishing.
Kiddo is bored with summer already, but also hates school. Living in the middle of nowhere, she has a dearth of friends who want to come over and talk for six hours about Demon Slayer. She needs constant interaction which means that I think my days of working from home are winding down for now. It's not great.
Face hurts. Did I mention that?
Ouch man. I'll DM you on the FB's been too long between chats.

why do influencers pretend to know anything about life ya little joe rogens
be married before bish, then tell me stuff..they go around labelling the world like little posers because they've seen shotcallers before and then it becomes joe rogen fear factoring his way in like c'mon... we all watched him eat those bugs on that show, he doesn't get to pretend he's jesus now

There is an immediate psychological reward in posing like you know and can tell how it is, even apart from the kind of recognition you might get from an audience. There are a few simple tricks to appearing more knowledgeable than your actually are: Speak with enough confidence, cover a broad enough area, keep things general - let your listeners fill in the details. Since validation comes both from self and others, the huckster might come to believe their own story eventually.
(Jesus wouldn't be above eating bugs though. EDIT: Although on a competition tv show? Yeah, definitely.)

A little cancer is like the homeopathic remedy, yes?

That is great to hear about your Mrs! Mine is getting admitted again today for the 'Intensification' part of HYPER CVAD treatment, it's 6 months after the last treatment you get read-admitted for another four weeks of chemo. Yay. This time, really not feeling it - but we gotta do it. I read your post out loud and the 'Somewhat better than dying' got a knowing chuckle.
Sorry about the face
probably in my future too.

I am currently at O'Hare, heading to Korea again (5 AM flight to DFW first).

When I am driving and I notice a motorcycle splitting lanes approach from behind and I move over to let it pass more safely I am always disappointed when they don't acknowledge me with the two-finger salute down low. I try not to be a transactional kinda person, but in this instance I feel I'm owed that.
