Nah, it's not Harry. I didn't figure him for the Toon.

I watched the Newcastle Vs. Man Utd tonight when I got in from work. The first half looked reasonably promising. Newcastle were criminally denied an opening goal when Owen was judged offside, despite being a yard onside. The second half was a slaughter. Six goals and frankly, it should have been ten. Smith got sent off after the final whistle was blown. Whoever wants that job is a braver man than I.

Incidentally, what the shitting fuck is Christiano Ronaldo taking? I want some of whatever it is. He's always a step ahead. He seems to know where the ball is going to be before it gets there. His reactions make practically every other footballer look sluggish. I hope he leaves Scum so one day I can really appreciate him as a footballer. Today he scored his first Premiership hat-trick bringing him up to sixteen goals in eighteen league matches. Overall this season in all competitions he has played twenty-four games and scored twenty-two goals. Unbelievable!

Incidentally, Leeds United are playing Crewe live on Sky Sports on Monday night. Should be essential viewing!

Tommy, agreed. Ronaldo is a class apart.

Ronaldo's first touch to control the ball for his second goal was very impressive. He is now an attacking player of exceptional quality.

Alexander Hleb's control of a football is also excellent.

On a more sober note, Derby were relegated today and I wish them well in the Championship next season.

My fantasy football team got seven goals today, plus Ronaldo is my captain. Still got more players to play tomorrow! It's gonna be a good week for Portmerion FC....

Likewise, I got 95 points today. Three players to play tomorrow too. I am hoping I get over 100 points this game week. That would be ace because I haven't managed it yet.

Congratulations on second place, Simmo. It you wouldn't mind staying there, that would really help me out. Thanks!

Yep. Good days for both of you. If you can live with yourselves doing it with Manchester United players.

I may not finish first at the end of the season, but at least I'll be able to sleep at night.

Yep. I just can't imagine myself ever thinking "brilliant, Ronaldo scored a hat-trick for Scumchester today! Fantastic!" My only reaction to that sort of news is to feel physically sick.

Two fantastically amusing suggestions for the Newcastle job:

1. With connections in the North East and an urgent desire to re-prove himself, step forward Steve McClaren!

2. For sheer shits and giggles, step forward David O'Leary!

I've been saying McClaren since Sam left.

Newcastle would have to be positively suicidal to bring McClaren in now. O'Leary is only slightly better (though he does get fairly decent results if he is backed by a chairman who is willing to go far into debt.)

As a manager, you'd have to be somewhat suicidal to take the Newcastle job.

It's a lovely situation either way.

To be honest, Allardyce was not given a fair chance at the job. (He also made a dreadful start of it though, selling Scott Parker and making Geremi captain?) Turning Newcastle around is going to take two years minimum, and a first mediocre season should have been expected. But it seems like everyone is looking for the miracle fix and thus Sam paid the price.

If Shearer wanted it, I'd give it to him. I would imagine he could keep them where they are in the table, and at this point in the season, that's really all they should be asking for. I'm not sure that Hughes would be a good replacement, as it's taken him a while to build up the success he is enjoying at Blackburn, and it would be the same story if he was to take over at Newcastle.

If Keegan returned (as the odds on him have been slashed), then at least you'd see some entertaining attacking football, even if they wouldn't be able to defend (and that wouldn't be anything new either, as they've not been able to defend for a while now.)

The only thing that I can say for sure is that the next manager is going to have to have tremendous personality. Newcastle thrive on it, they need it, and it's something they haven't had in recent years.
