Ha! I have a soft spot for them too. No idea why and I'm not given to guilty pleasures (the "guilty" part, not the "pleasure" part).
My love of Tool also catches me a lot of flak, especially from my dirtbag retro-rock friends.
I also really dig a defunct Vermont band called Invisible Jet. The singer sounds like an absolute dead ringer for Peter Gabriel. It's almost creepy. And the music is a mix of power-pop and quasi-prog rock with a very light touch. Not my usual fare and my girlfriend gives me endless shit for it, since just about everything else I listen to is heavy and uptempo. But something about it really grabs me.

Aye, the pond is where I pilfered 'The Obvious Identity' from, but at the time I posted it in the Sendspace thread I wasn't aware that there were any Cardiacs fans on EA apart from Adam CR.
I got to interview Tim & Kavus a year ago when they came to Glasgow. It remains one of the best days of my life. Really nice guys.

Aren't Chrome Hoof something to do with Silas, formerly known as Holmes?
Is there something you're not telling us????
I listened to a couple of Chrome Hoof songs on their MySpace page, and they were horrible. They do a nice line in sparkly costumes though.

Considering that my friends either listen to metal/power metal, the latest chili peppers/seether hit or no music at all, I don't have this problem. I don't know if that's good or bad.
