Gray Matter was originally Dante Ferrando, Geoff Turner, Mark Haggerty and Steve Niles. Jon Kirschten replaced Haggerty in 1985 and the band split in 1986. Haggerty, Turner and Niles formed Three with former Minor Threat drummer Jeff Nelson but they also split after one album. The original line-up of Gray Matter reformed in 1990 and released another album before splitting in 1993.

Dante Ferrando went to play in Ignition with Alec Mackaye but quit to help run his father's restaurant in DC. He now runs The Black Cat with Dave Grohl. Turner played again with Nelson in Senator Flux and eventually with some of the guys from Girls Against Boys in New Wet Kojak. Mark Haggerty formed Severin, who also recorded for Dischord.

Steve Niles became a major comic book author and moved out to LA. He worked with Todd McFarland on 'Spawn' and has been largely responsible for bringing horror back into comic book form. At the moment no less than four of his comics have been optioned to be made into films.

I have no clue what happened to those bands.

Hey! Star Pimp! I have one mediocre CD by them... however, I remember hearing the good stuff at a friend's house. What's that one called?

(You may know this already, but...) The singer from Juno has started up a new band/collaboration thingy that sounds promising if it ever gets off the ground, and it's called Ghost Wars. Songs here --> http://www.myspace.com/ghostwarsmusic

Also, Juno is playing a pair of reunion shows on December 9th and 10th in Seattle. I'd like to think that they'll get back together, but something tells me that probably won't happen.

No, tbone, I didn't know that. Thank you much!

Not many people know that Branch Manager actually formed from the band Foundation, with whom both Ron Winters and Dave Allen played in the mid 80s. Dave Allen (he was the bassist but it's not the guy from Gang of Four smartypants) went on to play with The Maginot Line along with former members of Corm, the band that also gave us Q and Not U. Scarily enough drummer Desmond Decker also played in AOR rockers Emmett Swinging.

I didn't think anybody else had ever heard of these guys. I bought their first album on a whim in my dischord days. It's great.

I saw them open for Fugazi, having never heard of them. Also playing that show was the Make*Up, who I didn't like as much, especially after I discovered the vastly superior Nation of Ulysses (yet another two-albums-and-POOF Dischord band).

Saw 'em at Cicero's in St. Louis quite some time ago. They were great. In your face!

I saw them at Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge MA in 1996 or '97. They were wicked awesome. The drummer threw his sticks at hecklers, one of them asked another what demographic they were playing to and got the answer "indie rock faggot". All dressed up as robots. What a great band.
