231 had a couple of the best fights I've seen in a long, long time. Holloway is straight-up the perfect fighter. He punches with such precision--it's shocking to watch, actually. Truly nutty fight. The Nelson/Olivera fight was FUCKED UP. Almost threw up!! It was such a quick ending, and in such a brutal way. GNARLY. Jon Jones on the 29th, y'all.

The thread is about UFC, we've been discussing MMA for what 9 pages, what did you think you'd see if you "checked out" that fight? Do you have an interest in MMA or martial arts in general? I talk about it here and here only, as I assume (along with most rational adults) that it's pretty impossible to defend this sport on a few levels. Dana White, for instance, is the biggest piece of shit around, pretty much. We watch sports for a whole lot of reasons. An open-field tackle can end a career just as quickly as taking a punch to the face. I wrestled for 10 years, all throughout school, and studied aikido and jiu Jitsu for a couple years. This is a fascinating aspect of life to me--I cannot speak for anyone else who watches. Many come from a boxing background, many just love the ancient idea of one-on-one fighting. Moralizing seems pretty silly 9 pages in. I mean that without heat or enmity, in case my tone seems harsh.

I just thought that clip was representative of what makes UFC crap. It's not my proudest moment on this forum but I still believe the essentials of the position laid out there, if not the manner in which they were expressed.
