Roma was really something, especially the chaotic pacing and choreography of those long takes. I can't quite wrap my head around how they made this movie. So much detail in the set to make it look like 1970-71. Beautifully woven story.Best movie I've seen in awhile. Totally worth my time.

The Bros documentary, After the Screaming Stops. Just brilliant, and that Stevie Wonder line was one of the funniest things I've heard in years.

I saw "Venom" and I liked it quite a lot. I wish the entire thing would be even more goofy and over the top, in line with Hardy's performance but still I was solidly entertained, all the its flaws like ending which seemed to be tacked on and slight (or not that slight) vibe of a film that was put together from lots of different cuts but not to the point to be incoherent, it was just oddly paced.Watching it I thought to myself it should have been directed by Sam Rami and then I realized that he already had Venom in his Spider-Man (which I never saw).

I don't think I've ever observed anyone so lacking in self-awareness as Matt Goss. It's unreal.

F.J. Ossang's The Treasure of the Bitch Islands.Strong images and editing, really good (post-punk) soundtrack, while its over-the-top pretension and confusing narrative were made charming by its semi-campiness. I felt like it was taking itself just seriously enough to take risks and try things out without forcing you to decide whether it was tongue-in-cheek or not or really having to care about the plot to enjoy the movie. I'd watch it again. Interested in checking out more of Ossang's films.

I have the French region-free blu-ray of Garrel's L Enfant Secret on deck. Waiting for just the right time to watch it.Peeked at Winter Light from my mom's copy of the Ingmar Bergman's Cinema boxset, which my dad got her for x-mas (at my behest). Looks dope! Such a fine movie. This is a cool movie that all old school Milwaukee people should know:I saw this in celluloid once. It was like being in the 1970s, for the first half.
