Bought Unreal for $2. It holds up really well.
Somehow they weren't always good at implementing higher resolutions in those days, anything above 640x480 makes the HUD tiny and it doesn't work. It's the same with the early Tomb Raider games. Doesn't bother me though.

^ and bro this is quickly getting hard or I just really suck. The enemies are smart and fast and they take a lot of hits. The Mercenaries are handing me my ass. And the early Titan kills you in one hit. Didn't remember that.

Elden Ring is an absolute blast. I cannot believe how crazy this game is.

I’d like to solicit suggestions for 2D games like Axiom Verge and Cave Story. Genesis-level control complexity: no parry, no dodge, little to no “death as a learning tool”, with good music and convincing retro graphics - not the pseudo-retro approach of Blasphemous or Hyper Light Drifter.
Bloodstained isn’t an option. No “commit to jump” please.
