Amp- Sony STR-DH190.
Update: that got here quick. Yep, it's absolutely great. More features than I need, but the bluetooth will be nice. Listening to the Unwound vinyl remasters now. I know there's better stuff but I absolutely cannot be arsed to go on a tone quest honestly. At least not right now anyway.
Thanks to FM MBG & everyone in this thread!

related: what do you all like for image hosting? I'll post some photos of the project.

Relating to said receiver restoration (a harman kardon 330c, probably early 80s) - I wonder if anyone could help me on something:
I'm replacing a bunch of burned out lamps and one is a "stereo" lamp which, even after replacing doesn't light up. Listening to FM seems to indicate that it's just not picking up stereo signal which gets me to the main question: does anyone have experience or advice on adjusting/aligning FM tuner circuits? Even with a dipole antenna in a somewhat decent location, the tuning is pretty weak. Is this something that should be looked at? It's possible I can do this myself but may need some equipment.

Thanks, Chris and Motorbikeguy. That gets to the heart of the question, which was whether an amp that can accommodate a TV would also have a decent phono input, or whether the phono component was just an afterthought—one bell/whistle among many.
Hello,
I had a similar need a few pages back. In my case, I have my TV switching multiple HDMI sources: cable TV/XBox/Nintendo Switch (I have a son, ok?) so I don’t need a multimedia switching receiver. What I DID need however was an amp that could use the optical out from the TV, which for my needs was met with a Yamaha A-S701. It also has a phono preamp. The downside is it was 800 bucks but I think the 80watt version is $550.
Note that you may not need optical, or you could use a separate optical>rca box, which opens up a world of cheaper used amps and receivers.
Not sure if my experience is useful, but it sounds like you have a similar need.
The optical cable solution ended up being the route we took. I had my eyes on the Marantz NR1200, which seemed perfect, but apparently it doesn't have sufficient power to drive our speakers (KEF LS50s) well. We went with the Marantz PM7000N, which should suit our needs and then some. It will arrive in mid-March. I'll test its internal phono stage, and if it's wanting, well, I have some credit at B&H that I could put toward an external phono stage. Maybe one of those small, sexy Pro-Ject Tube Boxes.

That Marantz looks nice and the tape out/in is a feature I wish my Yamaha had

So after our recent upgrades, here’s what the hi-fi looks like:
Rega RP-1 turntable with an Ortofon Om 5e cartridge
Pro-Ject Tube Box S2 phono pre-amp
NAD C 541i CD player
Marantz PM7000N integrated amp
KEF LS 50 speakers
The TV runs through the amp with an optical line.

KEF LS 50 speakers
If I ever have to replace my Dynaudio I would seriously consider those. Not nearly as room dependent, more sensitive, too. Really like those speakers. Congrats.
Oh, and they are really good looking. What color did you choose?

Mine are black. To be honest, I’m not sure if I knew there were other options.
I demoed them against a couple of other speakers (can’t remember which) at similar price points, and all sounded really good. The flexibility re: the room clinched it.
The new amp really makes them shine, too.

I heard the first generation of these many years ago, I'm sure they made improvements...
