Congratulations! You now have the music in you!

Terrible crap.

Roughly contemporaneous bands/artists that, in my view, are far, far worse:

Donovan
The Grateful Dead
The Steve Miller Band (who had FAR worse lyrics)
The Mamas and the Papas
Herman’s Hermits
Canned Heat
Crosby, Stills, and Nash
Joan Baez
Best of Canned Heat is a bargain bin gem.

Too many awful bands.

I've always hated Coldplay. I know they are not the worst band ever or anything... but I hate them. Their music, image... the whole pack.

Stuff like Posion or warrant. Just terrible.

Is that the "something something stare at my erection" song I used to hear on the school bus circa 1997/98?

I think this might be the "lyrics you sing wrong because they make you laugh" version but yes, and that school bus experience is very 90's and true to my experience.

Wife likes them, along with Maroon 5.

Barf.

EDIT: this entire thread could almost be renamed "Bands that my wife likes"

I don't know, I find RHCP kinda fascinating.
I see them as California 70's quaalude kids who became punk rockers and then, later, one of the biggest bands in the world.
They got so big that their music became music for normal people who don't even like music.
So big that their songs included pure gibberish* lyrics, and that was in the single, and it got played on the radio, and still does.

They made an album in an old house with Rick Rubin, I thought that was pretty cool when I was 16.
And it became a total smash!

Going back farther, when I was 12 or 13 (?) I learned about 'Higher Ground' from them, that was one gateway to 70's Stevie Wonder for me.

Frusciante is a crazy ass guitar player, kinda unique and sometimes great. And definitely a bona fide weirdo through and through.

I'd still vote crap, but worst band EVER? No way.
I won't go into all the things that make them repellent to me, but there's probably a few songs I wouldn't turn off the radio for.

*Please don't make me look up that "blang blang bong bing..." song.
