What did you do?
I found some great plaid pants and had them tailored how I like. So I was wearing those, a band T, slip on Vans, no socks. I told him I had dressed this way pretty much since 1986, so while I will accept being called "adolescent, emotionally stunted, or a man-child," I will not allow anyone to call me a hipster.

Oh, and if he wants to see real hipsters in the wild he should go to Highland Park.

Without knowing your situation, I had a feeling it may have been related somehow to your wine expertise.

(I have been ridiculed before for spending a little more time than normal smelling a beverage before drinking it.)

EDIT: Also, now knowing that your Vans may have been involved, I have also been ridiculed for wearing Chuck Taylors as a middle-aged man, though I’ve been wearing Chucks since I was a teenager.

Ha. It was at a liquor store account of mine, but the guy who said it was one of their customers who was tasting with us.
