Same except I'm trying to perfect a crows as friends / asian food feed. Occasional angry Chihuahua overreacting in there too.

Generally I thought he was a harmless Boomer punching above his weight with some questionable takes on popular 90s rock. But for me his video reviewing the Country Top 10 as some kind of last bastion of modern talent has turned me off completely. I get it, they still use guitars...that makes Rick happy. But every single song here is absolutely dreadful in that Staind meets Chris Gaines mode and he's just lapping it up.

Agreed. He had one recent video that was literally "back in my day we had to walk 2 miles to the record store...". There was another one where he said "rock died in 2012". FFS.

Whenever he or anyone make these super broad brush statements about "music is _____ now" I want to scream. They act like the Spotify Top 10=Music. I master records for a living, I hear new music all the damn time. There's vast, endless oceans of music that don't have anything to do with the top 10 whatever. I know you all know this, sorry, it's just always driven me crazy.

I commented on the "2 miles to the record store" vid and said he had a huge platform here, instead of complaining about how much the Spotify Top 10 sucks, why not use it to showcase interesting non-mainstream artists. Which of course he'll never do because that won't get the clicks, so here's another complaining video.

I think he's a good interviewer, and as far as the mechanics of making a record go he's always seemed like he knows what he's talking about, I just need less Boomer Dad in my monitor.

He’s less a good interviewer and more he gets interesting people to interview. I’m not a huge Police fan but all those guys are pretty decent people to talk to.

I think he does all of this with a best intentions but in the end is a mainstream rock guy. He seems to have some big blind spots regarding underground music especially. He’s a fairly typical normie that thinks Smashing Pumpkins were underground music. I think he did a whole episode on dropped D tuning as a “90s” concept and didn’t mention Helmet. Probably the most obvious band to associate with that…

Basically he’s an 80s rock guy. Which fine, but his interviews are far more fun than his opinions.
