I'm really liking this new Portishead material, and I have not at all been a fan of theirs in the past.

Thing is, though, I like Portishead's formula (though I think that "Machine Gun," at least, strays pretty damn far from it - the beats practically are the song and I can't see anyone dancing to this), and I really don't know shit about moody club music. I'll check out Burial.

I had an art school girlfriend in the summer of 1995 who was really into Portishead. They might have even been her favorite band but I forget. She turned out to be a talentless, shallow and pretentious bitch.

They're sort of like what hipsters would have listened to before pitchfork was around. All the reactions people have toward arcade fire, and cocorosie, and all those guys i sort of have toward portishead
