Of course, punk rock opened up a world of music, art and ideas that I barely knew existed.

I tried to re-evaluate the music and lyrics of Rush about 10 years ago by listening to what were my favorite albums as a youth: Hemispheres and Permanent Waves. Ugh! Painfully awkward and clumsy song structure combined with amateur poetry.

Crap.

But kudos to rushfan1 for standing his ground among the chorus of criticism.

Just because they may be "Ugly Fucking Band #1", that doesn't mean their music is bad. Your physical appearance does not reflect your musical ability or talent. What bands do you listen to? Maybe we should look at pictures of them from 20 years ago?

Incidentally, you misunderstand how the system works. I didn't say Rush were 'Ugly Fucking Band #1' at all. All I said is that I can tell I won't like their music in advance.

I am never going to like Rush but you have found a band you like. That's cool. Don't worry about it so much. Each to their own.
