...Israel said it was taking "very seriously" the threat. "Unfortunately we hear all too often belicose, extreme and hateful statements out of the Iranian leadership," Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Mark Regev told AFP.

The White House denounced it as "almost provocative".

A Tiny Revolution noted, unlike FOX and the rest of the so-called liberal media, that an amendment containing the following wording was attached to the Senate FY2008 Defense Authorization bill:

(3) that it should be the policy of the United States to combat, contain, and roll back the violent activities and destabilizing influence inside Iraq of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, its foreign facilitators such as Lebanese Hezbollah, and its indigenous Iraqi proxies;

(4) to support the prudent and calibrated use of all instruments of United States national power in Iraq, including diplomatic, economic, intelligence, and military instruments, in support of the policy described in paragraph (3) with respect to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies.

Add this to the near-hysteria over Iranian President Ahmadinejad's appearance in NYC today and the current front page of FOXNews.com and it is not outside the realm of possibility that the Bush administration intends to go ahead with yet another military misadventure.
