That's good enough for me! After that I'll rewind and start at the start. I love to hear how bands develop. Thank you!

I'm an idiot who slept on this band for years. Should I start at the very beginning or is there a weird, great, representational album I should start with?

found these a bit ago, and they're great quality live recordings. one from the Peel Sessions (it's missing a song), and the other from VPRO radio in Amsterdam:

I'm still big on Electro-Shock For President. It sounds like something that could be released now- and contains more ideas/interesting sonic elements in 14 minutes than most bands will do with a full LP or over the span of their career. I initially had it set to 33 RPM and it sounded like it could have been Brainiac like that, too.

I personally love how they developed, and when I discovered them, they were still touring on their debut, Smack Bunny Baby. So my preference is to tell people to start at the beginning with that record, even though Bonsai is my favorite. But really, you also can't go wrong by starting with Bonsai and moving backwards, then moving on to Internationale and Hissing Prigs.

There is a new Brainiac documentary out that I caught in Chicago last week... Super interesting, thought was well done.... Director did a fun Q&A afterwards... I think this doc is moseying around the country for 1-night screenings here and there, wanted to make sure folks had heard about... https://brainiacfilm.com/

I saw the documentary on Thursday, as well as the (second!) performance of the surviving members. Super cool, very life affirming. The Doc was everything I wanted it to be and then some.I also had John, Juan and Tyler on my show before the festivities started. If you want to listen to that you can do so here.
