Sorry to be a hippy but we're all free thinking individuals right? If you don't like it, vote with your ears but don't say what it is and what it isn't.

So you want to censor people? You should keep your mouth shut even though someone asked for your opinion (God forbid we make a "judgment" based on our own ideals)? What kind of "free thinking" "hippy" are you? The author of this thread created this debate/argument. Maybe you should criticize him for asking anyone's opinion if you don't like hearing them.

If you find this thread offensive to your "free thinking" "hippy" ideals, follow your own advice, "vote with your eyes" "but don't say what is and what isn't" a proper debate.

That's not censorship, it's common sense. How can anyone be a judge about what's music or not? Where do you get the nerve to say something's not music? No one is saying you can't say it, but that you shouldn't say it.

what? re-read what I wrote...I don't want to censor anyone. The author of this thread asked what you might think of their endeavours - not whether their endeavours were actually music or not. Who the hell pipes up with an opinion on something like that? Good or bad - sure. But music or not? Phew...[/i]

Interesting! I have yet to say anything that denigrates either side of this issue. Frankly I don't care who wins this "argument". Both sides are right and both sides are wrong on many sides of this issue.

You think people should shut up when asked or called out on their opinion? If you really think honeyisfunny is right, you would STFU and vote with your eyes. You guys both Republicans or something? Why should anyone shut up about their opinion when asked about it? Part of the problem is if you want to use "don't ask, don't tell" you can't ask...already been done though, so suck it up.

Your logic fails me.

I did. What part of censorship do you not understand? If you take a stance that people should not speak up when asked about their opinion then I can understand why you are having difficulty.

Here's what you should understand, I'm not telling people to shut up, I'm saying keep that ignorant shit to yourself, "Oh, it's not music". Instead of saying, "It's not music", why not just say "it's shitty music"? But, no, people have to define to a T what music can and cannot be. Notice when I "dissed" Steely Dan, I never once said it wasn't music, but it was bad music.

Classic apologist rationale for censorship. I can smell a Godwin moment in the making.

So at what IQ level are you allowed to speak out about your feelings? How many people on this board (myself included) qualify for the "privilege" of Free Speech using a baseline evaluation of ignorance? Just asking.
