A beer that always gets on my nerves has to be Brooklyn Lager, its an overhopped style typical of american microbrews desperately trying to differentiate themselves. And while I like an overhopped beer that tastes good (give me a sierra nevada any day), Brooklyn lager does not. Its overhopped nature makes it unaccessible for a lot of 'casual' beer drinkers as well. Nevertheless, they are tremendously self-congragulatory about their mediocre product (like Sam Adams), and profit from the community-oriented image that branding themselves as 'Brooklyn' imparts. Apart from their show-brewery in Williamsburg, the bulk of their product is actually made in upstate Utica.

A Cobra or Kingfisher beer, with a good curry. Perfect.

I'd like to hate lagers like you all seem to, but a cold Stella on a hot summers day really does it for me. That or a Speckled Hen in ye olde englishe pub garden.

Just realised this is probably in the wrong thread

I work at a bar/brewery in Lincolnshire, IL called Flatlander's. I'm the live engineer for the weekly open mic night, which means I get my drinks free. This being the case, I've tried all the homemade brews at least once.

Our brewmaster seems to love hops, and except for Bass, I'm not a fan of hoppy beers. This stuff brings the hops. And I always get this faint touch of banana that's entirely unappealing.

So, sadly, their generous offer of free beer has drawn me to some of the least appealing brews I've yet tasted. Nice chaps, just a mediocre brewmaster, in my opinion. Others seem to love his stuff, so maybe I lack taste. The Prairie Wheat is alright.

That is all.
