While I was waiting for the N train, I got a spectacular light show from the north. Forks of lightning over the Bronx. It was beautiful. I hoped I would beat the storm home, since I needed to go food shopping and pick up my laundry...and the storm completely missed my area.
I feel sort of gypped.

Not even Tom Waits.

Not to change the subject, but you've ditched the balloons so soon? You must've received some PMs...
I for one missed the Muppets.

157A tornado touched down very close to my parents' house out in the country an hour south of Chicago, in southern Will County, late in the afternoon today during those crazy storms. My mom said that they heard sirens, everything got eerily quiet, and then all hell broke loose and they heard the telltale WHOOSHing sound of a tornado, so they went into the basement until it went away. The whole house was vibrating.
Thankfully, I haven't heard any reports of injuries around there, and my parents said that they don't even have branches on the lawn (which is amazing, since they have 3.5 acres of oak trees), so they have no property damage at all. The neighbors had almost all of their trees leveled, but the houses seem OK. There are trees down over all the roads, power's been out for a while. Someone a few miles away had a garage blown to smithereens.

I did too. No PM's, but it's just best to stick with what works.

160Clowdy, not too cold, and no rain this day.
No BBQ-ing just yet.
Fingers crossed for this summer. For the last ten years or so it seems we either get it hotter than Hades or like a two month monsoon.
Those weather shots posted are awesome.
