My setup:
Fender Mexican Strat with humbucker/small white Palmer with humbucker -->Boss Tuner --> Boss Blues Driver --> Boss RC-20 loop --> Music Man HD 130 Head --> Mesa 2x12
Am I the only one on this thread who uses the Blues Driver? I thought they were really popular. That guy from Guitar Center totally lied to me.
The way I use it (level at 12, Gain at 9) it's more of a boost that sounds slightly cracked. I like it a lot.
I also like the RC-20 a lot. I originally got the big green line 6 delay pedal, but I ended up hating it. I had trouble making the delay sound not cheesy (a problem I seem to have with all line 6 stuff) and the loop record time was too short for me. The RC-20 has 16 (I think?) minutes of memory, which sure comes in handy when you can't remember how to play a song and need to fake it live! I also use it to record stuff off my Optigan to delightful effect.
It also has independant inputs and controls for an "inst" and a "mic." I've been trying to hook up a little casiotone into the "mic" input, but being line level, it's way too hot. Is there someplace where I can get a 1/4" pad for the "mic" input so I can do this? Don't say Radioshack. The other night, I gave up trying to adjust the nob by the millimeter to get the right level for the casiotone and just started tapping the 1/8" end to my finger. Luckily, I picked up a Christian radio station loud and clear and started looping parts of a sermon. It was like a montage of memories from my years as a good Catholic boy...

I was thinking of getting a machine pedal - do you like it?
Anyone want to weigh in on Fender Blender vs. Ampeg Scrambler vs. any other similar pedal? I'm shooting for blary/dissonant/slightly distorted sounds, and I'd like to get some kind of octave + overdrive combination (not necessarily in the same pedal). I've played the EH Pog and I liked it, but I don't have much experience with octave pedals.
Has anyone used any of the
Death by Audio stuff? I played the Total Sonic Annihilation with my usual setup + a couple of old boss pedals (metal zone and chorus, I think) looped through it and I couldn't get much out of the TSA besides a one note feedback I didn't really like. The overdrive looks interesting though.
Are there any good books/kits on pedal building? RISD's too expensive.
