I agree about being overpriced. I've only seen a few deals posted on that account. I think it has high enough visibility that they're counting on getting a bunch of offers and starting what is essentially a bidding war.

I always wonder if my SVT III Pro has THAT sound, I mean, it sounds really good, but the last time I had a real-deal SVT was for like a few weeks in the '90s and I never got a chance to really play it like it was meant to be played. That and not having as good tone-lawyer ears as I do now. Every now and then I see an SVT II non-pro for reasonable money, i.e. under 900-1000, but can't justify another fucking amp. Eh, most of that stuff is overpriced IMO.

Like wind blowing outside, low and "whooshy". Gets worse when you turn the reverb or the treble knobs up.Built in the summerof 1978 by Reed and Rosa in Irvine, baby! Ran through my old GK 700RB over the last few days. No problem components, but all the pots were sketchy. Probably just dirty after sitting for 5+ years. Haven't had a need for a "loud" bass amp in a while.Caig FaderLube on everything (just a little). Exercised all the pots. Basically good as new.When I first fired it back up there were all kinds of weird noises when playing, volume fluctuations, static/fuzz/distortion.A very nicely engineered amp overall, pretty enjoyable to work on. Wouldn't be a big deal to change out a component or even the entire pre- or power amp if needed.Parts still on order from Mouser for the Randall. Should arrive within a day or two.

That's rad. I've always heard good things about those.I'm pretty sure duratex will stick right to that glue. Maybe just scuff it with 60 grit and try a test patch on the bottom or something. Or cover it with a bonding primer first.

I was all set to buy an SVT-II non pro off craigslist, but a music store had a Peavey Classic 400 for cheaper and it seemed like a better deal. 400w, 2 channels, one channel has proper gain stages, which was the main thing for me, as the SVT basically has a single volume. The DDT compressor was broke, so it was just bypassed completely. The bass nerds on talkbass say that the compressor really only engages at the extreme end of the clean channel's capability, and at that point the fucking house will have already collapsed on top of me....so, I guess no big deal. Same nerds also say the fan is unnecessary, as it was only put in to pass UL regs. Ooooook. The rat fur has got to go, and the fan is totally noisy anyway, so I started tearing it apart. The fur came off easy, the glue looks completely dried out but laid on pretty thick. Can I apply Duratex straight over the glue or does this crap need to be stripped off?
