sorry to butt in, but can somebody summarize what the point and content of this thread are? it seems like it's getting so much action, but i don't know if i want to take the time to read all 50,000 pages of it without knowing what's going on here... thanks.

I'm not sure what you were refering to in terms of Bach, so I'm not sure what you would like to be enlightened about.

Certainly if you are claiming that Bach developed modern tuning then you are quite wrong; Bach didn't even favour equal temporament.

Have I got entirely the wrong end of the stick?

You are talking about tuning are you not?

Some fucking rabbit's been comparing rock to art made by children and saying as such it's unworthy of analysis and criticism, unlike jazz and classical, which, according to the rabbit are more sophisticated forms that, apparently, have clear-cut rules (who knew?!?) and adult-style sophistication, making their analysis, in stark contrast, a worthwhile venture.
