space junk wrote:So your argument, such as it is, is that you don't want to enter into a discourse about Paul McCartney's importance in pop, his musical ability, or his electric bass playing. What criteria are you judging the bastard on? His choice in footwear? His height?
Ha ha, no, I meant that I'm not questioning that he's important to Pop/Rock, nor that he can probably do a mean turn on the bass, and I'll accept that he's got a ton of tunes under his man-made materials belt.

My arguments were, again:
1. Your argument, or at least it's presentation, was poor;
2. I think Paul McCartney is crap.

Unlike your good self, I do not extend [2] to being "anyone who disagrees with me is a prick", although that's a line of reasoning that I'm starting to consider

Got me?

for the record, he's 5'11" , pretty tall for rock's oldest pixie. So, whilst I can still look down on him, I've got no real chance for mockery there.

Fuck Paul McCartney, who gives a shit?
Why's this motherfucker still putting records out?
I just saw a TV ad for his new one, he's walking around with like, a mandolin talking about 'everyone just love each other' or some shit.
Come on, billionaire. Fuck off.
Who buys Paul McCartney records these days?
Yuppies? Old people? Office workers? I have no clue.
My mom starts crying when she talks about John Lennon getting shot and my parents go see Ringo Starr play every time he comes thru and they don't even buy Paul McCartney records, they wouldn't even consider it.

BadComrade wrote:I bet half the people who hate that song would love it if a band like the The White Stripes or The Arcade Fire wrote it.

And the other half would love it if Slint or Shellac wrote it.

That's gotta be balls. I mean seriously a crock of shit. I once met Paul McCartney briefly and he was WAY smaller than me (i am 5'11'' myself and i have bad posture so i don't tower too high). I totally dwarfed that awesome-on-the-bass motherfucker.

He is easily one of the top 5 basswraiths of all time. And he seemed like a nice bloke too.

My keyboard player, a huge fan, burned me Ram and McCartney on a single disc. I've enjoyed listening to these records way more than I expected to.

The man's music has been like a stone in my shoe my entire life. What punk rock was invented to remedy. Various guitar solos cannot sway me.

"McCartney is listed in Guinness World Records as the most successful musician and composer in popular music history"

He's also an extremely talented multi instrumentalist and at 65 is still making albums. His latest "Memory Almost Full" is surprisingly good.

Many people may not like his music, but he's not crap, not even close. He's written a lot of stinkers, but also some of the greatest songs in music history.

NOT CRAP :WF: 0

Ok, ok, not ALL of his solo stuff...

...and ignore my previous comment. McCartney is not crap ever. I know this is months later but I don't care.
