Yamaha BB1200s on Craigslist.

Talk me out of it. Or do the opposite.

EDIT: Those that would talk me into it would have a much stronger case if they were willing to buy a Gk 800RB, Peavey T-45 or a short scale bass to justify me acquiring more gear.

That's the Peter Hook bass right? I don't think I can talk you out of it.

Unfortunately you don't have to. The ad is gone. Figured it would go fast.

Not really GEAR but....

Cheap, small, belt sander. For ages I have wanted a very small, slower speed, bench top belt sander and no one seems to make one that fits the bill. Enter China. Mostly this would be for trimming up the edges of circuit boards in medium quantity and for shaping guitar nuts, though there are plenty of other potential uses. Other than cabinet building which I do offsite, everything I do happens in one room of an apartment. Real estate is limited and keeping noise down and shit clean is paramount. I have a regular belt sander that I can bench mount but it makes 1) a racket, and 2) a ton of dust even at its lowest speed. I can take it out to the balcony but that's a bit of a pain. So....is is worth tossing $60 at this and seeing if it does the trick?

Potential cons:

-1.2" x 13" belts is a very odd size, so hard to buy new belts. You can find suitable ones if you know where to look. Also 3/8" x 13" are widely available and would probably of most of what I need.

- Its hard to say what minimum speed the thing operates at, and i'd rather it be on the slow end. It has some sort of 7-speed controller, but even at the worst I figure I can probably roll my own controller to get the speed where I want it.

Motors are 12-24V which is sweet, lots of control options for that you can buy for cheap. $60? Not sure you're going to do much better than that. Only thing is have found cheaper belt sanders are often noisier.
No speed control on this, but I was going to pick one up myself https://www.harborfreight.com/1-in-x-30 ... 61728.html I rarely need to sand small things much so figured this would do me fine

The only thing I'd say about that lil' feller is that it looks like it's VERY small based on dimensions...but for your app, this is probably a good thing?

Also: fuck Amazon 100% always

I think at that speed it could better-suited as an oscillator. Kinda how those Gamechanger Motor synths work?
