I'm not a very good fist-bumper - can never connect head-on, I'm always like two inches off or some shit. More of a handshake guy.

I'm fine at fistbumps but not highfives.

I am also a below-average hifiver. Good at handshakes, finger guns, and nods.

I just dropped my son off for his first day of school. He was smiling wide when I waved good-bye from the classroom door. The build-up to this day and the day itself kind of feel bigger than anything that's come before in my own life, fairly eventful as it's been. Holy shit, we made it. Now onwards to new shores.

Watch the elbow of the incoming high five, not the hand. For some reason, this works.

I find there are too many ways to greet people: hand shake, fist bump, elbow bump, high five. I find myself always doing the wrong one, it's fucking embarrassing. Seriously.

+1
I cannot agree more. Also taking into account customs for other countries and also different genders.

I did drop-off every day for years. It's surprisingly emotional. And I mean every single day, not just first day of school. It gives you a lot to think about.
Nevertheless, congratulations on this milestone. Glad to hear he's smiling! That's big.

I remember when I drop my daughter off for school for the first time. She loves going to achool and socialize. I did the same with my sister almost 30 years ago. It's beautiful.
They're so alike it's amazing.
