A coworker of mine just randomly blurted out that "chikity china, the chinese chicken" line from that barenaked ladies song the other day.

Man, I used to kind of like that guy until this incident. Now he's on thin ice.

My vote currently goes to the song "Bad Boys" by Inner Circle, which is the theme to the TV show COPS. I have had many debates with people about the lyrics, and I hold steadfastly to the fact that the song starts off with:

(grunt)
BAD BOYS!
WHATCHA WANT..WHATCHA GONNA DO...
WHEN THE SHOOKITA KUN KUMPITOO!

there's this lame song from the 40s where the entire chorus is just some dude who sounds like dean martin singing "coooool water" over and over and over

and the worst is that since its the 40s there's like 6 other morons doing that barbershop harmony and they're all going "cooooool water" as well except for one dude who's suppose to pick up the repeat so after the swell dies he keeps going "water... water.. water.. water.." softer and softer

"water" is not a good fucking word to stick into your lyrics, it's hard to get out smoothly and with any sort of rhythm/scansion at all christ

also that violent femmes song that basically start up with that yakety sax solo

also even though bare naked ladies have been mentioned a bunch but i'm pretty sure they covered bruce cockburn's "lovers in a dangerous time" and then for the music video it's basically all 12 or 18 of them huddled up in this goddamned horse-and-carriage thing and they're all singing together in the hayride and they all have their turtlenecks pulled up high and if they aren't all looking at each other in the eyes they're staring directly at the camera and saying things like "These fragile bodies of touch and taste
This fragrant skin, this hair like lace
Spirits open to thrust of grace,
Never a breath you can't afford to waste. " and it's like listening to a horse talk about he broke himself in

Though I like to sing "When the sherriff hum drum come for you."

Window Shopper by 50 cent came across as typically lame. I didn't take too much time to take in the lyrics but the general gist I got was that he was making fun of people poorer than him?

The chorus is awesome though-

That's pretty, and the other doop is pretty-ugly in a good way.

I guess there are plenty of songs that are more "lame" in the bathetic sense ("What About Me?") or in combining the pretentious and the bathetic (the solo Henley oeuvre), but if I'm locked in a bank and holding hostages, "Doop" is the song that will make me crack.
