Just realized my above post was over one sentence.

There's a new LB recording coming out later this year, apparently. It was recorded a little while ago. I think it's called Funny Farm. Also a Black Pus record due out later this year. That one was recorded "at home" so it'll probably be on the lo-fi side, though bad-ass nonetheless, and well mastered to boot. Ben told me that both of the Brians are somewhat dissatisfied with their respective solo projects, so when they get back together I imagine it'll be a full-on assault. Hell yeah.

The only time I've ever played a rock show, I played drums in a five-man Weezer cover band that only knew four songs.

The drumkit belonged to the next band, a Christian new wave act.

It included but was not limited to two little toms and a splash cymbal.

I bought Regatta de Blanc in December for "Message in a Bottle" and can barely stop listening to it on repeat.

I find this inspiring.

The Pissed Jeans performance was pretty dumb last weekend, and I love, I'm talking LOVE the Throbbing Organ/Night Minutes 7" and the Hope For Men LP, but live? I stood there in the middle of a pretty lame pit (after dodging a bottle of water. yeah, water) thinking: "didn't I do this fifteen years ago?"

I find this disheartening. I thought Pissed Jeans were fucking fantastic. And I had a great time rocking out beside you when they played your request as an encore.

Singer in response to random audience requests and heckles: "Yes, I usually base my decisions on what a bunch of 21-year-old white guys yell at me."

H-GM (with moustache): "Listen, I'm not 21. I'm 37. Now play "Fantasy World." (Band plays song and it's awesome)

Were you more disappointed by the band or the crowd? Hoping for more dude-tit jiggling? I haven't been to many shows in Chicago, but this was the best yet. And come to think of it, you've been at almost every show I've been to.

I was standing right behind you. You avoided that water bottle with all the urgency of a man sidestepping a dog turd on the sidewalk. The "pit" consisted entirely of a 5' tall chick in a leather jacket and her 90-pound boyfriend swinging one another around the floor.

Guess it's time for the old guy talk. Things just ain't like they was before. Kids at shows these days don't know how easy they got it. Shit I remember once, a body-surfing skinhead kicked me so hard in the face that I swore I had a mirror-image of the "AIR WAIR" logo permanently imprinted in my forehead. Nope. Kids today just don't appreciate the value of a good mosh pit.

is District Line any good? along the lines of Last Dog and Pony Show maybe (hopefully)...

You can think of it as Body of Song v. 2.0, with Bob being more settled into the BoS formula this time out. Less angsty, more thoughtful. Bob's gotten over a lot of stuff, although the last verse of track 3 is one of his best recent-period zingers. There's a touch more acoustic and more developed dynamics this time out. I like it.
