I can confirm that Metallica's version of The wait is indeed horrible. Contary to public belief they were not big fans of the band - it was suggested to them to cover for hipness sakes. Master of puppets is possibly the best metal album ever. Still crap though from the black album onwards.

Their version of the wait is a real good thrash track, one of the best there is.

Hipness sakes? How hip was Killing Joke at the time?
NOT AT ALL, dude. The opposite of hip, they were doing foofy goth disco at the time.
I read the story, everything on garage days was off the only mix tape (that Kirk made) they had to listen to on an entire European tour. They knew the songs inside and out by the end of the tour and just went in and did them with Jason to get him used to recording with the band.

I wonder if this is true. I mean, James Hatfield is not able to get the fucking Smells Like Teen Spirit riff right, while Lars fucks the bit of drumming at the beginning.

The difference is, they were good when they did Garage Days.

This band blows, and they always have.

Yes, they were "better" early on.
Jason Newstead deserves props for jumping into a popular guy's position.
He sucked the least in Some Kind Of Monster, which isn't saying a lot.
That's the only nice stuff I can say about them.

Their music sucks, and it's getting worse each year.
The band members suck.
They play hammer-on "dweedley dweedley dweedley dweedley deeee" solo rock.
Lars thought suing the fans that made him rich was a good idea, because he has not one ounce of intelligence.

Screw this band. I never understood why people who like good music like them or Madonna.

All I've been listening to for two days now: Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets. Sometimes (most times) it's easy to forget that these douche bags were once a very talented group of kids. Kind of sad.

Maybe I should do a Metallica/Thin Lizzy thunderdome? Yes? No? Retarded?

Sir, I salute you. Been playing these a lot myself the past few months, and just can't get over how badass Hetfield's rhythm playing still sounds.

Seems like an apples/oranges thunderdome to me. But Metallica's "Four Housemen" vs. Megadeth's "Mechanix", now that's another story... (I'm still going for Metallica on this one).

No shit. I still see students show up in class in Metallica tees and they're all about like, old 'tallica, man! And nobody's shoving that shit in their faces, they seek it out only on the strenght of the music.

I can listen to any of the great Metallica and feel precisely as excited as I was fifteen years ago. Bands like that, I can count 'em on the fingers of one hand. Okay, maybe two.

They created something, and it's not just music, that will possibly be around for years and years to come, and they pretty much did it all by themselves.

This band was really great, one of the best.

What did they create other than music? Seriously.

Well said, sir.
