Why is no one doing an AOR cover band called Foreign Company?

I played a backyard show tonight with a couple of people I’ve been playing with for the last four months or so. We slayed. Super fucking awesome show. I heard someone tell one of my bandmates “That was fun.” People still say that? What dull-ass planet are you from? We were so good!

Yeah, cause for an aged ass adult who's seen a million live rock performances it's one thing to keep standing up with your ear plugs in in front of a loud band listening thoughtfully concluding, "This is pretty good." It's another to be grinning and losing yourself with a sense of joy. I'd say fun is a rare accomplishment.

It used to be a running joke among close friends and bandmates that “you looked like you were having fun up there” was dismissive, glib, faint praise. I’ve mostly come around on this and can accept “fun” as a genuine compliment, albeit from folks who might not go out to shows very much.

I’d consider “nice set” to be a lot more dismissive.

Except for this. Nothing of that size, and defintely not several of those sizes together like that. Nothing that tattered either. The highways also look different, almost California-ish, except California in desert climate, like I could imagine date palm trees growing by the roadside. Anyway, different.

Last Monday after I played an open mic set, one of the earlier performers said "that was fun" to me. Hey, thanks!
