Yeah, I don't think it'll alter the election results much. People were back to their bubbles after the shock wore off.

It will make life even crazier for the next few months, including this week in Milwaukee. Ugh.

Agreed. The media have been using language like 'The rally that changed everything', but who is out there that had been thinking they wouldn't like another Trump term but now that someone tried to shoot him they would? It's extraordinary, memorable, historic, but changed nothing.

Precisely. Trump and the GOP will see an uptick in donations. His self-image as a resilient leader will be bolstered among his base. He can play the martyr and the voice of reason, and maybe some undecideds will be won over now. The polling might reflect this.

But the attempt on his life isn't going to wipe clean all of the asinine things he's said and done, or would do if elected again. He can assume a more "presidential" tone now, in his missives and public appearances, but he'll still be a mentally ill despot suffering from malignant narcissism, an unstable old man ill suited to lead the country. A tiger ain't gonna change its stripes, most people know this.

I think you guys underestimate the plebs love of high theatrics. Don looks lile a fucking superhero. Full credit to the guy for seizing the moment and being defiantly dragged off the stage like James Brown. Just the right amount of blood to make him look cool, not gross. Beatiful stuff. On top of that all of his old enemies have to crocodile tear their way back to showing their affection for him and how happy they are he’s safe. Also Biden temporarily had to pull his negstive campaign ads. It’s not “game over”, but it’s significant.

And in two weeks, nobody will remember a thing about it.

Depends on what media outlet you're listening to. The right wing ones promoting folks like Kid Rock and Connor McGreggor are screaming that this seals the deal for another Trump presidency. Others say the photo with bloody Trump raising his fit is now iconic.
I expect to see this used in many many Trump ads during my local and national news. It's not going away.

Biden's constant gaffes, Democrats crying for him step down and now this don't give me much hope but things can always change.

Oh, it'll be milked, no question.

The issue is whether this moves the needle.

Winning over new voters is different than firing up an already-entrenched base, preaching to the converted.

Strengthening his "brand" won't change him being a liability, to the other half of the country.

Totally true, sadly or not, who knows anymore...

Gin And Tacos on FB:

Remember the day Trump was found guilty? Feels like it happened a year ago right?
It was 45 days ago. Barely six weeks.
The election is in 113 days. You do you, but we're going to live a decade in the next 4 months so maybe stop assuming every Big thing that happens is the definitive one.
I understand the impulse - more or less a trauma response - to react to everything by rending your garments and screaming "It's over, it's all over, everyone's gonna vote for Trump now, no matter what happens it must benefit Trump!" but in addition to being bad for your health and sense of wellbeing it also doesn't make any sense. So what I'm saying is, you don't have to do that.

I know a lot of very sensible “normies” that are saying it looked like a false flag gone wrong.
