I saw Jesu the other week.

I was looking forward to them after what I'd heard, mostly on this board I think.

It was 2 cunts and a laptop and it was terrible. You could tell by the guitar tones that they thought they were heavy. They were not. I walked away after a song and a half.


Oh and I saw The Locust once and I thought they rocked. But I was the only one in the crowd who thought so. The rest were kids with funny clothes impatient to see the yeah yeah yeah's. They were good too.

I was fairly disappointed w/ that Jesu record. Everyone seems to love it though- go figure. Just can't compare to Godflesh, IMHO.

A London band called "Selfish Cunt"

I saw them at the Barfly in Camden, totally shite. I'm sure they thought they were all avant-garde, but it was fuckin’ embarrassing.

Basically it involved a guy in make-up breaking the other bands’ gear and swearing at the audience, while his idiot friend made some blip-blip noises.

I propose they rename themselves “Stupid Cuntsâ€

i think jesu is great on record, haven't seen a show though.

i just saw dungen, who were pretty mediocre, played their best song 2nd and the rest was pretty boring -- but this band that opened for them (either "endless boogie" or something else) was terrible, just the most mind-numbing boring repetitive "psych" jamming dumb fucking blues-rock riff over and over again forever. jesus. the only good thing they played was this sorta dreary swinging sabbath type thing.

I went with a friend to see The Hold Steady a couple of months ago at Metro. The opening band was this band named Sean na na.

You can guess the rest.

It WAS great to see the "hipsters" of Williamsburg getting into it as if they were geniuses spinning gold.

That opened my eyes to the Williamsburg "scene".

I saw them once when I was 17 opening for Sonic Youth and Wolf Eyes was genuinely terrifying (while also being kinda funny...somehow). I was scared. It was good.

I saw them play a couple years ago, and it sucked. It was just stupid.

i saw spiritualized at the mayan theatre in los angeles back in 2002 or 2003 or something. i can't be sure of the year. black rebel motorcycle club opened. they were ok.

spiritualized hadcompleted their us tour (which i missed) complete with gospel singers and horn section or something but the money was so tight that pierce decided to come back to the us with only the main band members. now, i hear the acoustics at the mayan aren't bad but this show was so atrocious for both the sound and the fact that pierce decided to close each song with 5+ minutes of noise. it was horrible. i'm a fan of some noise but that's not why i went to this show.

also, i went to a fuxa show and missed fuxa because i couldn't get through three of four opening acts. i hated that show. i love fuxa but i could not get through this shit to reap the reward.

I believe this is Har Mar Superstar's rock band. Although I like some of Har Mar's stuff, I have no problem imagining Sean Na Na are godawful.
