I like em both equally and it's all down to a few simple things:
friends
music

Good America = Cars, geography (landscapes and shit), Mexican food, accents, most food actually apart from modern European/posh nosh, "early '90s indie rock", t&g, comedians, most drummers, 24hr shit.
Good England = geography (but on a way smaller scale, chocolate, bacon, pubs, roast dinner, size (easier within reason to see your mates if you have a car otherwise the cost of public transport kills you)..I'm struggling..
Shit for both = public transport, politics, media.
Okay I'm done!
