Around 2002 I tried that with Sonic Youth "Murray Street" album, I was encoding it at different bitrates using different codecs. Sadly, I deleted the files. From what I recall i could pretty easily tell the difference between 128 and 160 but it was a hit or miss higher, and I couldn't really tell if some codecs did better job, it all seemed to be purely bitrate-depending. AI used reasonably good but not $300 headphones.

But yeah, what a joke people complaining it's at 160 instead of 192 are. "You can hear the difference on a hi-fi system".
