Watched The Electrical Life of Louis Wain last night and quite enjoyed its unexpected weirdness...Will Sharpe (from Landscapers) directed the heck out of it. Definitely for cat lovers of all kinds.

YELLOWJACKETS, only 4 episodes in, but damn really great. Melanie Lynskey is amazing, glad to see her get a real starring role in a series after playing the dowdy midwestern wife to so many Hollywood dudes in films for the last decade+.

The Alpinist is fantastic and making me feel like I'm really fucking up in life.

Ozark Season 4, Part 1 coming January 21, 2022

You loved 2020's The Platform on Netflix, directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia, about a vertical prison system where inmates are assigned to a level and forced to ration food from a platform that moves between the floors. It's a movie that Barry Hertz of The Globe and Mail deemed "extraordinarily gross, metaphorically blunt, but also perversely and wildly entertaining".



Well, not to be outdone, Hulu brings you and Gordon Ramsey presents Next Level Chef, a competition cooking show where contestants have to prepare meals in one of three kitchens, using ingredients from a platform that descends from the "glistening top floor" to the "challenging bottom of the basement".



I made it about eight minutes into the show before giving up.

I liked Platform a lot. The ending left me a little cold, but overall very not crap. It had to be tough to end a story like that.

Let's face it, you're not Verge of Light; you don't have highbrow tastes in cinema. So come on down in the gutter with me and check out this Megan Fox vehicle. And you can rationalize it by telling yourself, "Okay, I lost about 10 points of IQ watching that, but the cinematography was actually pretty good." I mean, that's what I did.

That's interesting. The book was terrible (if well-received). Curious to know how much surgery they might have done to pull a decent show from it.

I haven't read the book but I have heard that the series strays quite a bit from the book.

It's OK. Started out strong but kinda boring me now by episode nine. I'll keep going.

When I read this aloud I dropped my pipe on my favorite corduroy sport jacket!

(I did kinda enjoy Fried Barry with the whole Joe Bob presentation - watch at your own risk. It's on AMC+ / Shudder.)
