I drove down to Vassar to see the Babylon Dance Band and Antietam play at about this time. Did you happen to attend this show?
I was at both shows.
I = old.

The whole place reeked of patchouli. This was only the second time I'd smelled the stuff- the first was my first DK tape, someone had got patchouli on the lyrics sheet- and from then on I associated the smell with punk/hardcore. I apologize to my friends for wearing the shit for a few years. Sorry, but you know how powerful scent memories can be.

Nah I wasn't there. Ever go to any other Vassar shows? They really pulled some great bands.

Nope, it was a long fucking drive from the Berkshires, and I almost hit a deer on the way home. Really, I only drove down because a bunch of old friends from Louisville were gonna be there. I didn't go to many shows while I was in grad school because I wasn't playing music then and live shows just bummed me out as often as not.

I saw the Rollins Band the first time they came to Chicago. They played at the Cubby Bear, a smallish sports bar and music venue (I believe its capacity was around 200 at the time). I also was fortunate to see Johnny Cash and the Carter Family play there, and Sun Ra, Gwar, H.R., Naked Raygun and 7 Seconds.
I don't remember exactly which one of these was my first show, but I remember seeing Laurie Anderson at the Holiday Star Theatre and PIL at the Riviera. I was about 15 or 16, and it was right around that time that I really started getting into hardcore punk, so I started going to shows at much smaller venues after that.

The first show I attended was Metallica/Danzig/ Suicidal Tendencies at Riverport Ampetheatre in St Louis in 1993. Later that year I saw a fabulous concert when i saw NIN w/ Marylin Manson.
I saw these on my own accord mind you. I would see Danzig again maybe.

"Cold Shelter" was a pretty good song, IMO.
