I’ve known multiple people have had short term face paralysis from shingles and it definitely sucks A LOT
A good friend contracted shingles a couple of years ago and he does not recommend it. I should have been more studious about the vaccine so I wouldn't be shocked by the side effects. That's on me. I'm familiar with the business end of a needle so I'm usually apathetic towards them.

You remember the "Friday, it's Friday" song? I got into the story of the girl who sang it. Becoming insta-famous was pretty tough for her and she was basically ostracized in school since the song was such a meme.
She kept with the music though. This is what she sounds like now. Stepped up the game I must say.

Christmas Night storm feat a mini tornado whipped through, power came back on at 3am yesterday. So much damage around the 'hood, trees down, roofs gone, signs missing.
No damage to Casa Del Speedie, thank Torlex.
3 days running on gereator power is no fun in the middle of the Oz summer.

"In general, kung fu refers to the Chinese martial arts also called wushu and quanfa. In China, it refers to any study, learning, or practice that requires patience, energy, and time to complete. In its original meaning, kung fu can refer to any discipline or skill achieved through hard work and practice, not necessarily martial arts (for example, the discipline of tea making is called the gongfu tea ceremony)."
(wiki)
Kung fu tea ceremony is a real thing.

Currently obsessing over just the slightest bit of distortion on my turntable.. not immediately noticeable through the speakers but is driving me bonkers while listening with headphones.
Now working with alignment tools and force gauge.
Happy New Year, everyone!

make sure your stylus is clean (duh)
check cartridge alignment and tracking force
check connections between cart and turntable and between TT and amp.
how old is your cart?

Stylus is clean. Checked tracking force and it’s in middle (1.9 g) of recommended range (1.8-2.0 g). Connections seem fine. Alignment is what I suspected could be the most likely culprit. Am fiddling with that, anally, now.
Cart is ~ 2 yrs old. Recently swapped in a new stylus about a month ago and I play it almost daily, so I think (?) it should be past its break-in period.
As mentioned, I didn’t notice anything wrong until I listened via headphones, which I don’t do often. What I’m noticing may not actually be anything *wrong* but could be a limitation of my system.

Sleep paralysis. Fun! Hopefully that was the last episode for 2023, or, like, ever.
