In high school my first band was called Crimsin and we had a mascot, Malachi, which was a skull wearing a top hat. This was a couple of years before Guns n' Roses so it wasn't like we were biting or nothin'. I started thinking about Malachi because recently it was the birthday of actor Courtney Gains who played the character Malachi in Children of the Corn.

Good god the midwest is a waste of space. The people are awful; they're passive-aggressive, they dawdle and do their best to get in your way on the road, on the sidewalk, in buildings, everywhere. They're nosey, they're always looking for ammo for their passive aggressive bullshit. The weather sucks, the people suck, MNDOT sucks, and I'm just sick of it. I got home from the east coast thinking I'd be happy to be in my own house and bed again but all I can think of is how much getting out of here for a while validated all the reasons I've hated this place since I moved here from SoCal in 1995; and they're all the same reasons why my friends from out of state all moved to the east coast, and I should have fucking listened to them instead of trying to convince myself that I was just exaggerating. One more year and I'm outta here.

I loved watching Donahue after school in the 80s.
