Have you tried writing to the drive? Before I knew any better, I used an NTFS 200GB external all the time with my Ubuntu (7.1) machine. I've since re-formatted the drive to to Ext2 and use one of those freeware drivers to access it in Vista.

The drive is no good. It won't even mount at this point. I have to replace it. Micro Center ripped me off. Never again will I buy a hard drive from their closeout section.
