This is a new angle in mic design and marketing. Maybe gimmick driven, maybe a real innovation. For those not quite curious enough to read the site, but curious enough to keep reading, the pitch is mics in a rectangular housing with swappable grills. The grills (they call them screens) are ornate patterns that supposedly affect the frequency response of the mic noticeably. The screens are attached magnetically and can be removed by prying them off with a guitar pick.

They make a ribbon and a condenser and offer all kinds of color options. At $700 it's not top shelf prices but steep enough into the midgrade that they better be more than fun or cute.

The esquire deluxe is a fantastic idea and looks great. That weirdo 3 pup tele/strat thing looks cooler than it should too.

I mentioned that I bought a squire thinline tele deluxe; while it needed a little setting up (it was used) , it plays absolutely great. Recently I played a $1000 similar non thinline Fender tele deluxe, and I couldn't tell the difference. At least not enough to justify the cost.

Fuck I really like that esquire.
