I’m waiting to listen on the vinyl first. I’ll pick it up from work next week. Been off with FUCKING COVID.
I am loving the “actually it’s pretty good” comments after all the salt.

The new record is really good. Loving the sound of everything, except how Yow is in the front row, maybe too much in my face. I would prefer him somewhere in some shallow well shouting at me how much of an asshole I am for not helping him up.
8,8/10

I listened to it 3 times yesterday. I dig it. Like others have said, very "Shot", but I get a bit of "Down" in there too.
The songs I didn't love, sit better with the whole. As an album its a good listen front to back. I think it's a bit of a grower too, each time I was finding things I liked more.

It's good. As mentioned it is not the same sound, ie the vocals, as the Touch and Go era, and neither was Shot or Blue, but I assume it is faithful to what the band wanted and theirs is the only opinion that matters since it's their record.
A few months ago at band practice with Charlie and Shaun, before the name was announced, we had a few guesses as to what the new four letter name would be. JUGS and TITS were two of them and we weren't too far off.
It is 2024 and we got a new record by one of the two greatest bands of the late 20th century. Count your blessings.

What Protoolio said. Other than the personal anecdote.
I listened last night and I want to listen again today.

Cheers one and all. I’m sure some of you know I’m being (successfully) treated for The Cancer, so Covid can be scary. Luckily I got a fresh vaccine in July and it’s been super mild. The antivirals just knocked it out super fast.

Regarding Yows vocals, the way he's singing here as well as on "Shot" and Blue is very much in line with how he was singing on Scratch Acids "Just keep eating" and the more melodic songs on their other records, records that preceded Jesus Lizard by several years.
As much as I and I assume most people on *this* forum may prefere his more theatrical, amelodic , "texture-voice" approach on Head, Goat and Liar, I can't blame a vocalist for wanting to contribute *melody* to the lyrics he's written...
Anyway, I've only played it once, I'll be back later with a more informed opinion

Oh no no, it's not about the melody, I think his singing is the best one thus far. It's just the way the vocals are mixed into the record. I would have buried 'em more into the mix.

Jesus, people. You very well might get my jaded ass to drop $30 on a new record. I heard that song "Falling Down" yesterday and actually liked it. At least, it was better than the previous two tracks released as advances. (Really was not feeling that peppy one about the witch.)
Here's where I'm coming from: I think this band peaked w/Goat and began an abrupt slide w/Down (the last one I bought). I once had promo CDs of the final two records and sold 'em off, back when that was a financially lucrative endeavor. But I love, love, loved those first three (and Scratch Acid). Pull 'em out at least annually, maybe more.
Obviously, there's so much subjectivity here, but do you think I should snag an LP of this one? Worth it, given my take?

Fucking thirding this wish. Hope it's a quick, hassle-free blip in your overall treatment.

Too old for mere DADS, but POPS would have been a great choice, for multiple reasons.
Hilarious. Actually, COOT might have split the difference between these two options.
