I suppose its a bit like manufacturers and stores marking up cables something crazy. Shout out to Redco, by the way. Get the custom cables built with the nicest stuff for the same price or less.

Where did those $30 ribbon mics come from? I’ve bought a bunch of mic shock mounts from there for the RE20, AT4033, etc, and they seemed to compare to the standard marked up stuff. It’s to the point where if I see them come up when searching for one I just buy that and have never had issues with fit or anything.

Monoprice. Though they haven't had the mics in a long time. Either supply chain issues or tariff bullshit, or they just didn't make enough on them. Current decent deal there is 100ft starquad XLRs for $27 (normal price is like over $70 these days). I bought a bunch to make smaller cables from. per foot it's cheaper than redco's bulk starquad at the moment:

Love redco too.

Yep I bought two of them - anyone open them up? I was happy enough to just use them as is - I have nicer ribbons, but they're cool

Just bought this Garnet Rebel PA90 for my guitar mentor who just retired. I love these amps, even completely unmodified. I have three. Handle and feet on the side is standard because hey it's a PA and it should be on the ground when you're doing sound for Personality Crisis. He loved the one in my office and this one was even cooler with a 'lancer' badge, couldn't resist for the price.

Total moment of budget discipline breakdown this weekend, as I bought the first guitar I've ever bought new in my life. Fender Bass VI on crazy sale for prez day, it's going for a grand on sale at Fender and $879 on GC's website. They had one at the GC up the street, marked down even more - a deciding factor. It turns out I wound up not having to pay a plumber to fix the kids toilet, so that's like saving money right? Add in some xmas cash, sell a pedal or two and suddenly I've talked myself into having no other choice.

What a mess of fun and thunk and noise. I was so excited I left without the trem arm haha.

Yeah they're blowing those out right now, and the rumor mill says its to make way for the Vintera III line coming soon. I bought one of these Bass VIs, used, like 6 months ago for $1K. They're amazing and I found to be head and shoulders better than the Squier Bass VI I had. Makes me wanna pick up a Vintera II while I can but i've been overspending lately.

I found the Manufacturer, or at least another company that imports and sells them. ISK. The finish is different but it looks to me the same mic. THey sell them for $179. They are worth $20 I can attest, but $179... maybe no.
