They should put Obama as the VP just to get republicans totally frothing.
She's right, they will probably try to legally block it. But they also try to impeach Biden every other week and are a fuckin' in-fighting mess so good luck to them. Mike Johnson has got to be the least intimidating dude in DC. He looks like 3 kids stacked in a trenchcoat.Frankie99 wrote: Mon Jul 22, 2024 10:50 am The thing about the warnings from AOC that resonated with me, and she was still making them Friday night, is that the Dems as she knew it were not prepared for the legal mess that would ensue from changing candidates. My experience with dems says "yep. that tracks."
While I’m sure the GOP will threaten and perhaps even try “legal” means to stop this, they’ll get no traction. The Dems haven’t officially nominated anyone yet.Frankie99 wrote: Mon Jul 22, 2024 10:50 am The thing about the warnings from AOC that resonated with me, and she was still making them Friday night, is that the Dems as she knew it were not prepared for the legal mess that would ensue from changing candidates. But now magically that dragon is slain and Harris is just going to glide through to the nomination? I mean, it's not like she's worse than anyone out there, and in many regards has a better record on a lot of things Biden didn't prioritize - important things too like abortion, marijuana, CJ reform so I kinda feel like, whatever, just point me to the voting booth when the time comes, but still. The unity they're pulling off def. feels very coordinated.
I would love AOC, Jeffries or even Buttigieg as VP, We'll see. All three of those people are miles better than what we've seen from dems in the past, so that's promising.
I dunno man. I kinda figured this was coming, but the coordination feels weird. Not used to this kind of plan working for dems..
(Also, as much shit as JB takes, he's made some really good progress. Attacking predatory rental price fixing, ending Non competes for workers....those are Big Deal things that don't get reported because Trump fumbling through a speech littered with half assed school yard insults is plastered all over MSM.)
Legal mess? Like the courts could be involved? Or procedural mess within the party?Frankie99 wrote: Mon Jul 22, 2024 10:50 am The thing about the warnings from AOC that resonated with me, and she was still making them Friday night, is that the Dems as she knew it were not prepared for the legal mess that would ensue from changing candidates. That is a sincerely encouraging thought. I don’t have much faith in what she would do as president, but it is always good for young women of color to have representation and to be encouraged to participate in democracy. Maybe enough young people will come out and vote that. they will counteract the dumdum swing voters who will stay home or swing to Donny.jfv wrote: Sun Jul 21, 2024 8:37 pm Not sure about the overall impact of having Harris as the nominee instead of Biden, but I can tell you that my 18-year-old daughter and all her 18-year-old friends are (at least as of this moment) very excited to vote for Harris. They were previously considering either voting for a third-party or sitting out the election.
I haven’t thought about him in a while, goddamn I hate that fuckin’ shrivpenningtron wrote: Mon Jul 22, 2024 11:06 amOn another note, I love how Joe Manchin thinks anyone gives a flying fuck about his chances or what he thinks about anything period. Fuck off and go away.
In whose favor? You think Trump will run away with it?
