The field you need to fill in with the same term is the 'album artist' on the info field. Group all the songs together (usually by selecting all from 'previously added files' area) right-click/info/album artist. Call this field 'various' or whatever then click OK, and it jiggles/groups them all together.

Then, weirdly, once grouped together you can select them all again actually delete the album artist title if you don't want it there, but it still remembers they are all linked. There may be a different way of doing this but this should save your stress.

That's the thing that I don't get. I already did that on all my comps. The "album artist" field says, "Various" and then the "artist" field says the actual artist of that track, but it doesn't group them together in my itunes or on my ipod? Does it matter that I already had them imported without that "various" info...(I saw your comment about 'previously added files' and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it).

Everywhere I've found online says that that's what I need to do (check the "group compilations when browsing box", make sure the songs on a comp. have "part of a compilation" checked, and then the artist/album artist thing) but for some reason none of that is working.

My comps. are listed in my ipod under "Compilations" like their supposed to be but also all the artists are listed seperately like I said.

hmm, try deleting the album artist field, click ok. then add it it again and OK. Or delete all files then add all again, then click on the previously added files - select all and put various in album artist. I'm sure if you fiddle around with these areas and perhaps 'sort all' section you will hit a winner

I'll keep messing with it when I get home. Hopefully something will work. Thanks for your help.

My sister got me the little nano for xmas.

1. I don't have the largest hands, but the nav wheel is impossible to use for me.

2. It needs to be reset about once a month. I'll hook it up to the computer and the computer won't recognize it. spend the next hour trying to get it to work.

3. I haven't used it much. I use it in the car sometimes, but usually my trips are short enough where I don't need music. I once drove across the country without a car stereo.

I have a Zune which I like better than the ipod's I've used. (no annoying spin wheel, wifi\360 integration, built in old fashion radio).

But I've found I'll only use it in my car and occasionally in the back yard in place of a boom box. I can't imagine wearing it walking around and whatnot.
