Traynor YBA-3 has a green light for ON, red light for STANDBY.
There are always exceptions.

It's still a bad sign.

I had a giant Hartke bass amp for years and it sounded fucking awesome.

I'm referring to the ones that had those horrible plinky aluminum coned drivers, if this still refers to you I'm sorry, I'm only generalising.

FWIW, Ampeg 'V' series amps have a red light for power, and an amber light for standby.

7-string guitars.
line 6 amps.
sheet music in tandem with goateed guitarist sitting on a barstool wearing flip flops or sandals.
electric-acoustic guitars, unless they are played by P.W. Long or Bob Mould.

two reissue late 1990's Gibson SG's in the band, in matching colors (usually Oxblood red), played through Marshall JCM800's or 900's, with the matching Marshall 4X12s. Generally there will be chained wallets involved and octave chords. In 50% of the cases the Marshall logo is broken or missing and there's a hole in the grill cloth.

Any Behringer equipment.

Harmonica headpiece (except one worn by Neil Young)
Jorts on stage.
Ponytails and goatee combos on males.
Band name in duct or gaffer's tape on bass drum head, with a far from circular, hand cut hole off center in the middle of the drum. Sure sign the drummer has never tuned a drum.
Stickers on Bass Drum head.
Remo Pinstripe heads on all the drums, including the snare.
Rototoms.
Crash cymbals under 12"
Steinberger bass.
PRS guitar with fancy pearl inlays and humbuckers.
Eyeliner.

I would extend one of these to include any hole cut in the bass drum head. Or at least put 'drummers with no bass drum skin hole' in the 'guaranteed to be good' thread at any rate.

We used to share a practise room with a band with a headless Steinberger and the guy would always leave it out in the room. We have played many fun games of cricket with that bass.

I also think it's worth making a distinction between acoustic guitars with a pickup and 'electro-acoustic' guitars. Mr Long has the former, Mr Mould the latter.

Dude... Chrome Hoof

I saw them at Villette sonique. For a while I didn't know if I liked them or hated them. They were sloppy, not even playing together sometimes (it wasn't on purpose at all). Eventually, I think they suck. Yeah, I hate them.

You hate a band that you can't even make your mind up about? "Hate"?

Way to go!

Ok, they aren't that bad. I have the right to have a bad day at work, haven't I?
It took me a while to decide whether they were brilliant or annoying. They would have been better playing a EGC Standard. What's the big deal anyway? Are they any friends of yours? Why are you so uptight?

This is so far from correct, or even making sense, I don't even know what to say.

Paging choppy...

What, you really want me to put strap locks on my $125 bass? You can just buy 'em for me, ass.

Actually, no, i was paging you to correct BadComrade on this erroneous entry to this list. Ass.

Sorry about that, DJ. That was the royal "you."

Experience of bands (and putting them on) has shown me that if a drummer turns up and they have no mic-hole, they always have a decent sounding kit at the very least and are usually pretty good at playing it.

Just thought it was a bit of a weird thing to say, that you 'hate' a band that you have seen once and by the sound of things, couldn't get your head around when you saw them.

"It took me a while to decide whether they were brilliant or annoying"

Surely that's your problem not theirs?
