Did you get one of the "PRF Sustainers" from the charity build in 2020? Asking because I find that often when guitarist people dont like muff-type circuits its because of the scooped tone stack. Its the reason that so many people loved the old tone-bypass muffs. Anyway those PRF Sustainers were muff-type circuits but had a more standard treble roll-off type tone control.

I did but didn’t connect with it. I honestly don’t remember 100% why exactly. I sold it to another PRF person. My recollection is that either it had too much low end or even with the treble all the way open it was still too dark?

Rickenbacker HB-1 Humbucker & Tubeampology bezel:

Grabbed these like two years ago for a 4000 bass and just got around to installing them.

Sounds close to the original high gain but not as noise free as I was hoping for. Maybe the difference is more apparent at higher volumes or I remember it wrong? Oh well.

At least the pick-up cover is gone...

Found it fantastic for bass for exactly that reason, between the low end and the clean blend, it’s my favorite bass muff ever. It cuts a liiiittle bit of bass and bumps the mids in a way that I love for when our singer doesn’t play guitar for a couple songs.
Love the PRF sustainer!
And it’s pink.
And our ssssslord.

I had a little time to fuck with it, and it’s a huge improvement over the others I’ve had in the past - a lot less mushy and much more articulate on chords. So far, I’m a big fan. I’ll post a couple of pedal chain configs and my thoughts.
Keen for more info! In terms of the reduced mushiness, what do you reckon achieves that?

has anyone ever used one of the Warm Audio 4 ch API "clones"? I can get one for $850 and haven't used any of their gear other than the cheap pair of 47Fet Jr. mics I have, which sound fine, but do feel pretty cheap to hold. wondering if the switches and knobs are garbage or something. seems like they source good transformers and stuff. Opinions?
Was Japmn.

I own an WA-412. They do seem to feel a little lower mid range to me when driven hard. The pots stepped so there is that to think of but they are a pretty solid build.
I doubt any of the front panel buttons are going to fail any time soon.

So far, I’ve been using it as mascis describes in the promo video - distortion and volume dimed, then fucking with the tone knob to achieve the results you’re after. It just sounds much clearer than my other one.
