I heard about Jaki's death while I was working at the bar last night. I couldn't help but well up as I walked into the beer cooler with thoughts of his infectious, succinct, expressive beats. One of my hugest rhythmic inspirations. RIP.

Fuckin' awful news. I've had Mother Sky and Tago Mago blasting out all morning. I forgot how good Jaki was.

Jaki died this morning. I'm at a loss for words. He was one of the most influential Drummers of the 20th century. Seems that 2016 continues into 2017...

I'd never seen this clip from French TV before. It must be just prior to Future Days. Damo and Micky look absolutely baked.phpBB [media]

I'd go as far as to say he was my favourite drummer ever to play in a rock band. Watching this show in its entirity it becomes obvious straight away that can's impact would have been significantly lessened with pretty much anyone else behind the kit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKo73roXiecChatted briefly with both him and Michael Karoli when can made a (non-playing) appearance at the orange in Kensington to promote the "Sacrilege" album of remixes. Sad to think they're both gone now.

I only just read about his death.. I first heard Tago Mago 16 years ago, and every year since he went up a notch or two in my mental 'top drummers' list. I think I ran out of other drummers maybe 5 years ago..RIP Jaki

Lovely tribute to Jaki via Can-affiliate Jono Podmore. With that in mind I asked him if there were any other drummers whose work interested him: œYes. 808 and 909
