I very begrudgingly voted NOT CRAP, because he has two songs I like quite a lot.

But very, very much not my style of vocalist. I find him far too much.

Undoubtedly talented, but - to my ears, at least - histrionic and boring. Still, I can see why people like him.

Overwrought, histrionic crap. Probably couldn't stop singing even when he was swimming.

Yeah, how dare such a talented singer choose to sing so much!? He should have shut the fuck up and left the singing to all the other singers in the world, the overwhelming majority of whom, gift-wise, couldn't hold a can for him to piss in.

Also, you used the word histrionic, just like the post before yours. Which is funny. And still probably not accurate at all. What basis do you have for essentially calling him a fake? Doesn't histrionic mean he's acting? Pretending to be really dramatic? How do you know who he was, as a person, an individual?

Just to clear it up, are you making fun of his having died?

not crap. grace is a great record, if not a little bit dated now to my ears... but still, some very good stuff from a VERY talented vocalist with very well-written songs. his covers of lilac wine and hallelujah: also excellent. he goes overboard, sure... but i am into it. a real shame he died such a stupid death.

Absolutely NOT CRAP.

Like 'Spiderland', 'Grace' was the unique sound of an artist with wonderful, disparate influences, filtered into something pretty-much new/fresh. Also like 'Spiderland', the sound of this distillation was mercilessly and widely raped by lesser talents.

I can see why people who've heard 'Grace' in the context of universal reverence might want it to be CRAP, but it's NOT CRAP.

NOT CRAP. :WF: nil.

I vote crap, because even though I really really tried to like Grace was in high school, I found his songwriting really awful. I liked his voice, liked his cover of "hallelujia," but all the other songs he put out were vocal wankery and fake soul.
I guess i should've realized he wasn't my thing in the first place, but everyone's always making such a big deal out of him - i don't understand -

overhyped. very talented. grace rides the fence of CRAP/NOT CRAP for me. sketches shows promise. too bad he died.

his mother is riding his fame to the bank, though not on the level that tupac's mother is.
